Herbal Poetry: Lunar Infusion

LUNAR INFUSION
She’s fiercely in love
With the idea of love
Of rose petals sprinkled
On bamboo sheets
The luminescence of crackling wicks
Casting a mysterious glow
A soothing diffusion of Gardenia filling the air
Trailing tentative tendrils of aroma
Memories of soft touches and tinkling laughter
Lingering and clinging for desperate rebirth
A lunar infusion of herbs on the windowsill
Warm ceramic brimming with roots, leaves,
And sun-dried berries; A familiar comfort
When she settles on her bed alone
Memories fold into silent dreams
The laughter recedes and the candle wicks fall
Into ashen darkness
She realizes all she has are cool sheets, smudge bundles, And regret.
She’s fiercely in love
With the idea of love
