Candle Safety Guide for Your Home
Candle Safety Guide for Your Home

Candles add warmth, fragrance, and ambiance to any space—but using them safely is essential. Here are simple tips to help you enjoy your candles with confidence:
1. Always Burn Within Sight
Never leave a lit candle unattended. Extinguish the flame before leaving the room, going to sleep, or stepping outside.
2. Keep Away From Anything That Can Catch Fire
Place candles away from curtains, bedding, furniture, décor, or anything flammable. Make sure the surface is heat-safe and stable.
3. Keep Candles Out of Reach of Children & Pets
Pets and little hands can accidentally knock candles over. Choose elevated, secure locations where they cannot be bumped or pulled down.

4. Trim the Wick Before Each Use
Trim your wick to about ¼ inch before lighting. This helps control the flame height, prevents soot, and makes your candle last longer.
5. Burn for the Right Amount of Time
Allow your candle to burn until the entire surface melts to the edges (usually 2–4 hours).
Avoid burning longer than 4 hours at a time to prevent overheating or smoking.
6. Use Candle Holders & Heat-Safe Surfaces
Always place candles in appropriate holders that catch melted wax and prevent tipping.
7. Keep Away From Drafts
Fans, open windows, and vents can cause uneven burning, tunneling, or a dangerously high flame.

8. Protect Your Surfaces
Place candles on coasters, trays, or plates to protect furniture from heat and wax spills.
9. How to Safely Extinguish
Use a snuffer or gently blow out the flame. Do not use water — it can cause hot wax to splatter.
10. Store Candles Properly
Keep unlit candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight to prevent melting or fading.
