Poetry: Social Media Free
THEY asked me the color of my soul
Are THEY crazy? Should I put IT in a bowl?
Let them inspect IT? Speculate & touch IT?
My soul is too eclectic, wild & monochromatic
THEY wanna Disturb my essence with all their taint
Oh Mother Earth! I just can’t
I can’t expose all of me
Just because THEY demand authenticity
Oh THEY are Clawing for my Bare bones in technology
I can’t put logic to the Psychology
Of their constant myriad images & moments laid bare
Because THEY crave the social media overshare
No more privacy or secrets to discover
Because bare bones & naked souls make every cover
A picture, hasty words, then hit submit
Is taking away precious private moments
THEY keep clawing at my soul asking me to expose IT
THEY glare at my soul demanding I share IT
THEY laugh at my soul & think I’m introverted
Not knowing that I pull away so THEY will not hurt IT
