Our History
A love for plants has been passed down through generations, beginning with Gertrude James—our founder’s great-grandmother—affectionately known as Mother.

Gertrudes intuitive understanding of the healing power found in botanicals, combined with the limited access to healthcare many African Americans faced, inspired her to explore natural remedies with creativity and care. She formulated her own medicines, sold beauty products in her community, and became the first African American woman to own a store and restaurant in her quaint town. In doing so, she nurtured a lineage of makers, unknowingly passing these gifts to her great-granddaughter, Kakesha.

Who Is The Owner
Over the years Kakesha has loved gardening, seeing things grow & an avid beauty hoarder. Realizing that many plants have amazing compounds that are healthier for the skin in comparison to all the products often formulated with a high percentage of synthetic ingredients on the shelves, she began her research & found an UK based Organic Cosmetic Science School to hone her passions into a craft. She also mastered cosmetic beauty compliance, ensuring that every product and manufacturing method meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
Something clicked for Kakesha - Science and Nature intersected beautifully. But she did not stop there. She continued her own independent research into flowers & herbs developing lifelong knowledge that helped to develop her holistic hair & skincare brand. Many of Kakesha's formulations reflect her love and enthusiasm for nature.
